Clemenza’s, Mendon, Revisited

I don’t often go to the same pizzeria two days in a row, but I recently did so at Clemenza’s in Mendon, first for a couple of slices and the next day for a pie.
On my first, mid-afternoon visit, they didn’t have a wide variety of slices, so I went with the basics: one cheese, one pepperoni.
They were pretty good. The thin crust was brown and a little charred underneath, but paler along the edge, suggesting that the heat came mostly directly from the oven deck.
The slices were crackly: pliable enough to fold, but the exterior cracked a little on the surface, with some chewiness in the interior.
On top, the cheese had cooled, so it was not very smooth or stretchy, but it was OK. A little heavy for such a thin crust, but cheese was a little on the heavy side
The toppings were good as well
slices were good, crisp
pie a little thick and doughy for my taste
